December 17: Spot prices of steam coals eased marginally in the international markets on December 16 as demand waned in major consuming centres one week ahead of Christmas.
Prices were slightly down in South Africa and Australia, but remained flat in Indonesia. Freight rates were also down owing to the reduced demand.
