Mercator eyes India, China, Indonesia

18 Jun 2015

Mercator Lines (Singapore) Limited, a leading Indian-owned international dry bulk shipping company focused on markets such as India, Indonesia and China, today announced that it has secured a long term charter for its gearless Kamsarmax.

According to company's press release, Clearlake Shipping of Singapore, has chartered in the 82,459 – DWT Sri Prem Veena (built 2007) for a period of 12 to 16 months at USD7,050 per day. This hire rate represents a healthy premium of 23% over 4 TC Baltic Panamax spot index rate which is currently at USD5,735 per day.

Clearlake Shipping, a subsidiary of Gunvor Group, is one of the largest charterers of tanker vessels in the world and an operator of drybulk and VLGC (Very Large Gas Carrier) vessels and cargoes. In today’s historic low dry bulk market, where counterpart reliability represents a major risk, the company has consciously decided to deal only with reputable counterparties with a solid track record.

The compnay further said in its press note that, this new employment will generate gross revenue of around USD3.4m for the period of up to 16 months.
