Met coke imports via Kolkata Port treble in Feb m-o-m

March 7: Met coke imports through the port of Kolkata more than trebled to 64,714 tons in February 2014 against 20,998 tons in January 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

With this, total met coke imports via Kolkata Port stood at 459,219 tons during the first 11 months of 2013-14 compared to 768,146 tons recorded during the corresponding period of FY'13.

Met coke imported in February 2013 stood at 40,103 tons, while total met coke imports in 2012-13 stood at 849,348 tons.

Following are the details of met coke imports via Kolkata in 2012-13 and 2013-14:

In February 2014, imports included 21,780 tons of met coke from Indonesia at a unit price of Rs 17,352 ($276), 24,250 tons from Japan in a price range of Rs 17,302 – Rs 18,069 ($275-$287) per ton, 18,188 tons from Russia at a price range of Rs 16,032 – Rs 16,970 ($255-270) per ton and 497 tons from Italy at a unit price of Rs 14,099 ($227).

In January 2014, 15,000 tons of met coke arrived from Russia in a price band of Rs 15,841 – Rs 16,263 ($259), 5,000 from Japan at a unit price of Rs 17,288 ($275) and 998 tons from China at Rs 17,406 ($277) per ton.
