May 4: A mixed trend prevailed in international coal markets on May 1 as prices of Australian steam coal, as expected, softened a bit and that of South African coal firmed up despite limited deals, market sources said.
While South African coal prices moved up by $0.50 per ton, Australian prices slipped by $1 per ton after resumption of supplies from Hunter Valley, they said.
