MoC to hold talks with unions on CIL restructuring

13 Nov 2013

November 13: The Ministry of Coal (MoC), which has appointed Deloitte for a study on the restructuring of Coal India Limited (CIL), is likely to hold talks with the workers' unions in this regard, a union source said on November 13.

"The government will hold talks with the unions before any decision is taken," the source said.

Recently, the members of a team working on the proposed restructuring paid a visit to Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) to hold parleys with the employees, workers as well as the management, the source added.

Deloitte is expected to submit its report on the restructuring of the world's largest coal mining company by December 2013.

Meanwhile, the CIL unions are planning to advance the date of the three-day strike, which was postponed, to December 17-19, the source said. The advancement of the dates is being considered with an eye on the upcoming FPO which is expected to hit the market in the second week of December.

"The exact dates will be decided at a meeting on November 16 at Ranchi," the source added.
