December 21: Non-coking (steam) coal imports through Mundra Port increased 71.29% to 1,047,043 tons in November 2015 from 611,238 tons in October, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In November 2014, steam coal imports through the port stood at 2,035,478 tons.
For the first eight months (April-November) of the current fiscal (2015-16), steam coal imports through the port stood at 9,714,456 tons, down 40.67% from 16,374,110 tons imported in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Mundra Port in 2015-16 and 2014-15 (in tons):

In November 2015, around 989,043 tons of non-coking coal came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 1,343-Rs 4,141 ($20-$63) per ton and 58,000 tons from the United States at Rs 5,188-Rs 6,010 ($78-$90).
In October, around 518,772 tons of non-coking coal came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,071-Rs 4,242 ($31-$65) per ton and 92,466 tons from the United States at Rs 5,280-Rs 5,961 ($81-$91) per ton.
