NCL’s Bina OCP expansion gets Green approval

August 19: Northern Coalfields Limited 9NCL) has obtained the environmental clearance (EC) from the Ministry of Environment, Forests (MoEF) to expand the capacity of its Bina Opencast coal mine project in Madhya Pradesh by 25% to 7.50 million tons per annum (mtpa) from the existing capacity of 6 mtpa.
The ministry awarded the EC for the expansions vide a letter issued to the management on August 6, 2014.
“The proposed enhancement of coal production for peak rated capacity of 7.5 mtpa is to meet the increased demand of power grade coal,” the communique said.
Forest clearance for 1,257.00 ha of forest land out of 1,798.00 ha of mining lease area has already been obtained on August 13, 2008.
