NTPC floats enquiry to procure 7.25 mt of imported steam coal

November 19: NTPC Limited, India’s largest power utility, has floated an invitation for bids (IFB) for procurement of a total of 7.25 million tons (mt) of imported coal for its 14 power plants, according to information available with ICMW.
Out of the total quantity, 1 mt will be for Simhadri and Ramagundam power plants, 2.25 mt for Dadri, Unchahar, Sipat, Korba and Mouda power plants, 1.75 mt for Rihand and Vindhyachal power plants and 2.25 mt for Talcher, Kaniha, Farakka, Kahalgaon and Barh power plants.
Interested parties can submit their bids till December 18, 2013.

According to information available with ICMW, NTPC has asked all the leading suppliers to go through the terms and conditions of the tenders floated on November 19 and come back with their feedback.

ICMW understands that the terms and conditions of these tenders too would be stiff and, as such, only a few companies would be able to participate and submit offers.
