The receipt of imported coal by NTPC in December 2015 stood at 563,000 tons, which was 56% of the target of 1,000,000 tons set for the month, but up 14.90% compared with 490,000 tons imported in November, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
The power utility’s coal imports during the first nine months (April-November) of 2015-16 stood at 7.933 mt, which was 88% of the target of 9.00 mt but 31% lower compared to 11.41 mt imported during the corresponding period of 2014-15.
The company was initially given a target to import 22.00 mt of coal in 2015-16, which has subsequently been revised down to 12.00 mt amidst increased availability of domestic coal.
