October 17: Imports of steam coal by National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) during October 2014 stood at 1,600,000 tons, which was about 116% of the month’s target of 1,383,000 tons, as per provisional data of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) available with ICMW.
However, on a month-on-basis, November imports fell by 0.93% against October’s figure of 1,615,000 tons.
On the other hand, the imports in November 2013 stood at 164 tons.
During the first eight months (April-November) of 2013-14, total coal imports by NTPC stood at 9,403,000 tons whereas the figure stood at 7,758,000 tons during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.
Imports of steam coal by National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) during 2013-14 increased 16.47% to 10.557 mt from 9.064 mt recorded during 2012-13.
