May 16: NTPC, India's largest power utility, has signed a tripartite escrow agreement for its coal blocks Chatti-Bariatu in Jharkhand and Talaipalli in Chhattisgarh with the Coal Controller and the State Bank of India (SBI), the company said in a statement.
The agreement was signed at the Coal Controller's Office in Kolkata.
The agreement has been signed as per the mine closure plan of the Ministry of Coal (MoC) and a pre-requisite for mine opening permission.
