May 27: Piyush Goyal has taken over as India’s coal minister (minister of state with independent charge) in the newly-formed NDA government.
Goyal, 49, succeeds Sriprakash Jaiswal who was at the helm during 2009-14.
Along with coal, Goyal has also been given charge of power and new and renewable energy.
