September 30: Coal Minister Piyush Goyal has agreed to hold a meeting with the trade unions of Coal India Ltd (CIL) to discuss their demands which include scrapping the 10% disinvestment programme and transfer of de-allocated captive coal blocks to CIL.
“The minister has agreed to hold a meeting with us to discuss the issues. The date is yet to be fixed, but we expect it to be held soon,” a senior leader of CITU-backed AICWF said.
He said that representatives of all the five CIL unions would be present at the meeting.
“Our major demands are immediate transfer of captive blocks to CIL, scrapping of the disinvestment programme, re-structuring plan and privatisation move. We hope a face-to-face meeting will help us clear our stand,” he said.
