In line with the upward trend witnessed since Monday, power stocks registered gains on the Indian bourses on February 17, riding on global cues.
The S&P BSE Power index was up 11.35 points (0.69%) to close at 1,658.58 on February 17 from the previous closing of 1,647.23. The highs and lows on February 17 were 1,662.33 and 1,619.34, respectively.
The performance of the global indices was strong on Wednesday. Global markets such as CAC, DAX and FTSE closed in the green against previous close.
The Sensex decreased 189.90 points (0.82%) to close at 23,381.87.
The performances of individual power stocks were largely positive. The highest growth was registered by Torrent Power which gained 5.03% to close at Rs 220.05. The maximum loss was registered by Jaiprakash Power which lost 4.59% to close at Rs 4.99.
