After a green phase of two consecutive days, metal stocks turned red on Monday.
The S&P BSE Metal index decreased 58.59 points (0.85%) to close at 1,717.70 on February 8 from the previous closing of 1,733.63. The highs and lows on February 8 were 1,752.56 and 1,714.34 respectively.
Global markets such as CAC, DAX and FTSE as well as the Indian Sensex all closed in the red on Monday.
The Sensex decreased 329.55 points (1.34%) to close at 24,287.42.
It was a mixed day for the metal stocks. Highest growth was registered by GMR Infra, up 1.87% at Rs 12.52. The maximum loss was registered by Tata Power with a decrease of 2.57%. As the net profit of the company plunged 88% the stock price also went down significantly.
