Power sector must gear up for challenges: Power Secy

February 13: The Indian power sector is on threshold of adding large capacity which shall reduce the demand-supply gap considerably and the country needs to focus on setting benchmarks in the areas of reduction in land requirement, water usage and other resources, Secretary (Power), P K Sinha said.

He was addressing officials attending Indian Power Sector (IPS)- 2014 in New Delhi organised by NTPC Ltd.

Sinha expressed his satisfaction on the growth of the power sector in the current year and stressed on use of latest technologies and new initiatives for improving the sector.
