April 13: South Africa’s coal exports through Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) rose 1.49% in March 2015 to 6,310,196 tons from 6,217,295 tons exported in February 2015, according to data available with ICMW.
During the month of March 2014, coal exports through RBCT stood at 6,901,887 tons.
Exports through the terminal during the first quarter (January-March) of 2015 stood at 18,555,193 tons, up 16.27% compared to 15,958,637 tons exported during the same period of 2014.
In fact, South Africa’s coal exports through RBCT rose 1.71% in calendar 2014 (January-December) to 71.24 million tons (mt) from 70.04 mt in CY2013, as per the data.
