March 4: A weak demand scenario from European and Atlantic countries pushed down South African steam coal prices and thereby halted the upward trend witnessed over the past couple of days, market sources said.
Australian steam coal prices, however, continued to remain firm in anticipation of more miners announcing production cuts, taking a lead from Glencore’s decision a few days back, they added.
However, Indonesian coal prices remained largely unchanged on weak signals coming from China, they said.
