SAIL floats global tender to procure hard coking coal

October 3: The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has floated a notice inviting tender (NIT) to procure of 0.3 million tons (+/-10%, including shipping tolerance) of imported freshly mined prime quality washed/unwashed hard coking coal, according to information available with ICMW.

The company is seeking material with 8% total moisture, 20-32% volatile matter, 8% ash, 0.6% sulphur while the size should vary from 0-50 mm. The delivery of the material has to be made in Q1 (January-March) of 2014.

nterested parties can submit their bids till November 11, 2013 up to 12.00 hrs while the bids will be opened immediately after expiry of the deadline for submission. The price offered by interested parties should be valid till December 16.

Incidentally, state owned steel makers – SAIL and RINL – procure about 10% of their total imported coking coal through global tenders while the rest is bought through bilateral deals with miners.
