Siemens launches new test centre for industrial motors at Kalwa

November 26: Siemens Ltd has inaugurated its state-of-the-art ‘advanced motor test centre' for industrial motors at Kalwa Works at Thane near Mumbai.

The fully automated unit, which is one of the most advanced test centres of its kind globally, houses 8 test benches for 3 phase induction machines. The centre is capable of testing motors in the wide range of 120 W to 3,000 kW, a company statement said on November 26.

"The Indian electrical equipment industry has witnessed a host of changes in recent years, including adoption of new standards for efficiency for industrial motors. This also has given rise to new testing methods for efficiency calculation as well," the statement said.

Awaiting accreditation from National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), the test centre is established as per global testing standards and is the most advanced test centre as on date across the Siemens organisation, it added.
