Steam coal imports via Chennai dwindle to 76 tons in Dec

January 14: Steam coal imports via Chennai port dropped to a mere 76 tons in December 2013 against an equally paltry volume of 82 tons reported in November 2013, as per provisional data available with ICMW.

In December, the entire consignment arrived from the UK at a unit price of 30,177 ($482). 

In November, however, the entire volume arrived from Venezuela at a unit price of Rs 20,776 ($329) per ton.
