Steam coal imports via Kandla fall 16.48% in Feb m-o-m

March 13: Steam coal import through the port of Kandla stood at 326,977 tons in February 2014, down 16.48% from 391,488 tons imported in January, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
The import of steam coal through the port during the first 11 months (April-February) of FY'14 stood at 5,678,951 tons while the same stood at 3,486,618 tons during the same period last year.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Kandla Port:

During February 2014, 277,661 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,667-Rs 5,032 ($42-$80) per ton while the balance 49,316 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,332-Rs 6,214 ($86-$99) per ton.
However, in January 2014, 286,807 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,289-Rs 5,395 ($37-$87) per ton, 3,000 tons from Mozambique at a price of Rs 5,493 ($88) per ton, 101,681 tons from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,335-Rs 6,290 ($86-$101) per ton.
