November 11: In October 2015, steam coal imports stood at 13,356 tons through the eastern port of Karaikal after a two-month gap during October, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In August, around 71,500 tons of steam coal had arrived through the port.
Total imports of steam coal through the port during the first seven months (April-October) of 2015-16 stood at 436,506 tons. Details of steam coal imports through the port during the corresponding period of 2014-15 are not available with ICMW.

In October, around 10,000 tons of steam coal came from Australia at Rs 4,152 ($64) per ton and 27,500 tons from Russia at Rs 3,507 ($54) per ton. Further details of the remaining 75,856 tons were not available.
