Steam coal imports via Mundra fall 35.86% in Oct m-o-m

November 21: Steam coal imports through the port of Mundra fell 35.86% to 1,202,132 tons in October 2013 from 1,874,107 tons in September 2013, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Steam coal imports through the port stood at 511,634 tons during October 2012.
The import of steam coal through Mundra in the first seven months (April-October) of 2013-14 stood 11,975,416 tons against 4,817,209 tons recorded in the same period in the previous financial year.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Mundra in 2012-13 and 2013-14 (in tons):

During October 2013, 1,179,132 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,773-Rs 5,277 ($44-$84) per ton and 23,000 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 5,319-Rs 5,717 ($86-$92) per ton.
However, in September 2013, 1,822,553 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,436-Rs Rs 5,591($36-$83) per ton while 51,554 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs5, 228-Rs 5,588 ($82-$86) per ton.
