Steam coal imports via New Mangalore fall 36.05% in Oct m-o-m

November 6: Steam coal imports through the port of New Mangalore fell sharply by 36.05% in October 2013 to 179,655 tons compared to 280,928 tons in September, as per provisional information available with ICMW.

The import of steam coal import through the port during first seven months (April-October) of FY'14 stood at 2,629,521 tons, down from 2,705,937 tons in the corresponding period last year (April-October 2012).

Following is the monthly break-up of non-coking coal imports via New Mangalore:

 
In October 2013, 45,256 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,776-Rs 3,434 ($45-$55) per ton while the rest of 134,399 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5041-Rs 5517 ($81-$88) per ton.

However, during September 2013, out of the entire material, 114,518 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5462-Rs 5,791($ 77-$211) while 166,410 tons were imparted from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,844 –Rs 6,146($45-$99).
