Spot prices of steam coal in international markets firmed up on March 11 amidst indications of an imminent strike at Cerrejon in Columbia, sources said.
The spurt in prices came despite the general feeling among market participants that the strike factor has already been discounted and there would not be much fluctuation in prices, they said.
