April 10: Imports of steam coal by Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) during 2014-15 stood at 7,689,000 tons while the quantum stood much lower at 5,866,000 tons during 2013-14, data revealed.
However, in March 2015, coal imports stood at 430,000 tons, up 23.91% from 347,000 tons imported in February by the utility, data revealed.
In March 2014, TNEB’s coal imports stood at 629,000 tons.
