March 2: Imports of steam coal by Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) in January 2015 stood at 476,000 tons, which was 127% above the month’s target of 375,000 tons, according to data available with ICMW.
On a month-on-basis, the January 2015 import figure was 39.97% lower than 793,000 tons imported in December 2014 and also lower compared to 481,000 tons imported in January 2014.
The utility’s total coal imports during the first 10 months of 2014-15 stood at 6,192,000 tons, up more than 31.41% compared to 4,712,000 tons during the same period of 2013-14.
