U.S produced 17.2 mmst of coal for the week ended July 18; fell 11.5% year on year

United States the world’s second largest coal producer has produced approximately totaled an estimated 17.2 million short tons (mmst) of coal in a week (For the week ended July 18, 2015), EIA said in its latest report.
According to EIA’s latest report, this production estimate is 4.9% higher than last week's estimate and 11.5% lower than the production estimate in the comparable week in 2014.
East of the Mississippi River produced totaled an estimated 7 mmst (up 6.06% week over week) and west of the Mississippi River produced totaled an estimated 10.2 mmst (up 4.08% week over week) , according to weekly figures released by the US Energy Information Agency (EIA), on July 23, 2015.
U.S. year-to-date (as of July 23, 2015) coal production totaled an estimated 492.6 mmst, 8.5% lower than the comparable year-to-date coal production in 2014.
