April 14: Imports of non-coking coal via V O Chidambaranar Port (formerly Tuticorin Port) stood at 1,349,956 tons in March 2015, up 44.08% from 9,36,965 tons in February 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In March 2015, out of the total quantity, 1,15,661 tons came from Indonesia in a price range of Rs 3,276 – Rs 5,620 ($52-$89) per ton, 66,150 tons came from Russia at a price of Rs 4,100 ($ 65) per ton and 39,726 tons came from South Africa in a price range of Rs 3,523 – Rs.6,143 ($56-$98) per ton. Another 1,128,419 tons came from other destinations for which the price range was not available.
In February 2015, out of the total quantity, 931,965 tons came from other sources whose price range was not available while 5,000 tons came from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 6,143 ($85-$90) per ton amongst others.
