January 8: Imports of non-coking coal via V O Chidambaranar Port stood at 635,183 tons during the month of December 2014, up 2.5 times from 256,131 tons imported in November, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In December 2014, 159,400 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 5,516-Rs 5,713 ($84-$89) per ton, 14,500 tons came in from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,416-Rs 6,172 ($85-$94) per ton amongst others.
However, during the month, out of the entire material, 246,131 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 3,535-Rs 5,552 ($57-$90) per ton whereas the balance 10,000 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,584-Rs 6,118 ($89-$91) per ton.
