Vizag Port capacity to expand to 124.93 mt by ‘16-`17

September 30: Vizag Port Trust plans to expand its capacity to 124.93 million tons by the end of 2016-17, a senior official from the port told ICMW.
The port is investing Rs 19,938 crore in this, which would include Rs 2,112 crore towards deepening, Rs 646 crore in connectivity, Rs 9,803 crore in berths, Rs 633 crore in logistics and Rs 744 crore towards equipment.
The official said, by 2016-17, the total cargo traffic at the port, according to the Maritime Agenda, is projected to be 83.29 mt but according to a working group report, it is expected to be 80 mt.
He added that coal cargo, including coking coal and non-coking coal, is expected to touch 18.50 mt by 2016-17.
