Met coke imports through Vizag Port in December 2015 spurted more than four-fold (471%) month-on-month to 34,304 tons against a mere 6,000 tons in November, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
Import volumes of this commodity have been fluctuating wildly since the beginning of the current fiscal.
Imports in December 2014 were, however, at nil.
Total imports of the material for the first nine months (April-November) of the current fiscal of 2015-16 were at 185,048 tons against 86,747 tons reported in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15), showing a growth of 113% year-on-year.
Total imports of the material in 2014-15 were at 86,747 tons.
Following is the monthly break-up of met coke imports via Vizag Port in 2015-16 and 2014-15:

In December 2015, all the consignments arrived from China in a band of Rs 8,657 – Rs 10,704 ($130 -159) per ton.
November saw all the consignments arriving from China too but in a band of Rs 10,321 – Rs 10,455 ($157 -160) per ton.
