Vizag steam coal imports up 15% in Dec m-o-m

January 15: Steam coal imports through the port of Vizag increased 14.97% to 1,012,383 tons in December 2014 against 880,560 tons in November, as per provisional information available with ICMW.

In December 2013, there were no steam coal imports through Vizag Port.

Consequently, steam coal imports through the port for the first nine months of the current financial year (2014-15) stood at 7,669,373 tons as against 2,042,366 tons imported during the same period in 2013-14.

Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Vizag Port in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In December, 564,888 tons arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,156 – Rs 5,775 ($34-90) per ton, 35,139 tons came in from Australia at a unit price of Rs 4,109 ($66), 73,760 tons came in from Russia at a unit price of Rs 4,046 ($65) while the balance 338,596 tons arrived from South Africa in a band of Rs 4,205- Rs 5,310 ($67-85) per ton.

In November, 569,593 tons arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,110 – Rs 3,925 ($34-63) per ton, 138,901 tons came in from Australia at Rs 3,600-Rs 4,950 ($58-80) while the balance 172,066 tons arrived from South Africa in a band of Rs 4,188- Rs 5,621 ($67-91) per ton.
