MoC to finish 11 FMC projects of 88 mt capacity by FY26

In order to boost coal
transport, Ministry of Coal to finish 11 first mile connectivity (FMC) projects
of 88 million tons (mt) capacity by 2025-26 (FY26), informed Union Minister of
Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy.
“The Ministry of Coal has planned to set up 102 FMC
projects of 1,092 mt capacity by 2029-30 (FY30) in a continuous manner.
Presently, 44 FMC projects having capacity of 429.5 mt are operational,” the
minister said in written to Rajya Sabha.
Upon completion of the balance 58 FMC projects, the
projected coal dispatch through FMC is 1,092 million tons per annum (mtpa)
comprising 994 mtpa from Coal India (CIL), 63.5 mtpa from NLC India, and 34.5 mtpa
from Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL).
By FY30, about 90 percent of the total projected coal
output from these three PSUs is expected to be transported using FMC.
The
total capital expenditure envisaged for the FMC projects is about Rs 31,367.66
crore. This investment covers mechanized coal handling plants, rapid loading
systems, closed conveyor networks, integrated silos, railway sidings, and
associated infrastructure to enable seamless mechanized coal evacuation.
