In its effort to enhance the share of green energy to produce cement in sustainable and cost-effective way, Shree Cement has achieved over 60 percent of its energy requirement from renewable sources, according to a BSE filing. “The company's share of green electricity in total electricity consumption….stood at about 60.2 percent during January-March quarter (Q4) of FY25, which is one of the highest in the Indian cement industry,” said Neeraj Akhoury, MD, Shree Cement. Shree Cement is consistently ramping up its green power generation capacity, which stood at 582 megawatts (MW) during Q4 FY25, up by 21 percent as compared to 480 MW at the beginning of the FY25. In March 2025, the company commissioned a solar power of 60.3 MW at Jodhpur in Rajasthan, further work on few more solar plants at different plant site is underway. Rationalization of the power cost due to rising the share of green energy and efficiency measures undertaken across operations has helped the cement maker by drop in fuel sourcing cost, which in turn has improved the average realisation per ton.
